Describe yourself in five or fewer words
Effervescent. Introspective. Curious. Active. Complex.
Describe your ideal day
My ideal day would start in a tropical rainforest. I’d start it off with a breakfast of assorted tropical fruits in a simple yet cozy treehouse, then make my way to a trail that leads to a secluded beach or waterfall. I’d spend the remainder of the day reading, swimming, or simply taking in the sounds and sights. P.S. The perfect day would also involve all manner of delicious food and a canine companion.
What's your favorite book and why?
My favorite book is a tie between Paulo Coelho’s The Valkyries and Pema Chödrön’s Start Where You Are. The latter really helped me create a more constant meditation practice focused on keeping my heart and spirit open, while the former shows how The Divine can find us even at our lowest points. Both books reminded me that fear and self-doubt can be doorways to the most profound introspection and significant spiritual growth.
If you could time-travel back to a single point in history, where would you go and why?
I’d go back to 3000 BC Ancient Sumer (southern Mesopotamia). As an anthro-nerd who has studied civilizations as part of my academic background and cultural history I’d love to have a bird’s-eye view of one of the cradles of civilization. I’d definitely be there to gather the stories.
If you could be any animal other than human for a day, what would you be and why?
I’d love to be a whale, specifically a humpback whale (a type of Baleen whale). They’re one of the gentlest giants in the animal kingdom and can be solitary or in family groups (pods). They have outstanding linguistic capabilities, and they sing stunning songs. Essentially, they have many of the same core values as I do and live in the ocean—one of my favorite places on Planet Earth!
